A film documenting the house, called The Ennis House, was shot in hi definition digital 3D by film maker Tom Koester. It covers the construction (briefly), a grand tour of the house (closed to the public), and the damage stemming from the 1994 earthquake and the subsequent restoration and repair prior to the sale of the house to its current private owner. An early cut of the film premiered at the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy Conference in Chicago, October 2007, but has had few public showings. The exterior and interior of the house have been used in multiple film and TV productions. In 1959 the exterior was featured in House on Haunted Hill starring Vincent Price.

The 1975 production of Day of the Locust also used the location as a private residence. The house became legendary as the inspiration for the apartment of Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) in Ridley Scott’s 1982 film Blade Runner. The exterior was also featured in the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer as the home of Angelus, Spike, and Drusilla. Earthquakes and rains have taken their toll on the house, which was designated as a Los Angeles Historic Cultural Monument in 1976. Recent renovations have stabilized the building and it remains a private residence rarely open to the public.

The mac and cheese is off the charts, though be forewarned it'll take at least 25 minutes to make its way to your table. If you don't have time to wait, you'll have to choose either the burger, the pasta of the day or the paella. For dessert, regulars say the chocolate souffle is about as good as it gets. For sold-out performances, a limited number of $39 standing-room tickets will be available at the box office, sold on the day of the performance.

J.G. Melon is a classic burger-and-a-beer spot with a few locations in NYC, including this one on the Upper West Side. Heidi’s House by the Side of the Road, or HHBTSOTR if you’re short on time, sounds like a trinket store you’d see when you pull off the highway for gas in rural Vermont. Don’t let the name throw you, though, because this a good spot to drop in for a drink and affordable bite on your way home from work, and the dark, narrow space works for solo dining or a low-key date at the bar. Get the very thick burger on an English muffin or the crispy mac and cheese with bacon and jalapenos. The Ennis House is an architectural gem and favorite location for film and TV production. And how you process medicinal herbs from nature into an ointment?

In 1940, the house was sold to media personality John Nesbitt, who had Wright add a pool on the north terrace, a billiard room on the ground floor, and a heating system. The 300 year old Heidi's House is the origin of the world famous story of Heidi. Johanna Spyri was inspired by the people and ways of life living here for her story of Heidi.
The house consists of two buildings, the main house and a smaller chauffeur's apartment/garage, separated by a paved courtyard. In the early 1920s Frank Lloyd Wright split his time between completing the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo and a variety of commissions in the Los Angeles area. The Ennis House was designed for Charles and Mable Ennis in 1923 and was completed in 1924. The house is the fourth in a series of homes that have become known as the textile block designs done in Mayan Revival style. Ok, imagine this – the fog has rolled in, and it’s another chilly morning in the Bay Area. So you first tap the Awake button, and the house starts warming up before you even leave your bed.
A cartoon representation is featured in South Park as the base of a Chinese gang in the episode "Wing", satirizing the popular association of the Ennis House with criminal and/or Asian characters in films. Ennis House is also represented in cartoon series "The Venture Bros." as super villain, The Monarch's house in season 4. Even before its completion the Ennis House was marked by structural instability.
Amy first began at Heidi's House as a parent, when her youngest daughter started preschool in 2011. Prior to working at Heidi's House, Amy taught various grades at the elementary level.
S Club 7's video for the single "Have You Ever" shows the band members living an everyday life in the house and Ricky Martin music video song "Vuelve". In 2006 a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grant was issued, as well as a US$4.5 million construction loan through First Republic Bank, which restarted restoration efforts. The project included a new structural support system, restoration or replacement of damaged blocks, restoration of windows, and a new roof. Restoration work was completed in 2007 at a cost of nearly US$6.4 million.[17] No announcement was made regarding access by the public and the Ennis House remains closed to public visitors.
